UFC Vegas 5: Trevin Giles faints seconds before walkout, bout with Kevin Holland scrapped

Trevin Giles faints right before fight with Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 5.

The UFC Vegas 5 card suffered yet another blow — the second on fight night and this time moments before the main card opener between Kevin Holland and Trevin Giles was about to happen.

According to the UFC broadcast, Giles fainted moments as he and Holland were about to walk out for their fight. The commission almost immediately called off the fight.

Trevin Giles vs. Kevin Holland at UFC Vegas 5 canceled after Giles faints

Giles was seen seated on a chair being treated upon a return from commercial break.

This brings the number of fights on the card down from nine to eight after Ed Herman vs. Gerald Meerschaert was scrapped earlier today as well due to Meerschaert testing positive for coronavirus — among a number of other fight cancelations and changes this week.

Based on this tweet from ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, the eight fights on the UFC Vegas 5 card sets a new record for a smallest UFC fight card in the last five years
