The ACC football schedule is out and it looks a little different with Notre Dame as a full-time member and several rivalry games being canceled due to the circumstances of 2020.

With September inching closer and closer, college football fans can’t wait to see their favorite teams take the field each week. On Thursday, the ACC got the excitement levels pushing even higher with the official release of the 2020 football schedule.

If the season is indeed able to start on time, the ’20 ACC campaign will get underway on Thursday, Sept. 10 with Miami set to host UAB in Coral Gables with the rest of the league following up on Sept. 12.

Notre Dame and Clemson will face off in South Bend on Nov. 21 in a monster ACC showdown

Things will be a little different for ACC teams this year, with Notre Dame joining the conference on a full-time basis for this season. This means 15 of the conference schools will have an 11-game schedule, with 10 of those games coming up against conference opponents. This means some rivalry games such as Clemson vs. South Carolina, Florida State vs. Florida, Georgia vs. Georgia Tech and Louisville vs. Kentucky will not take place this year.

As has been the case in recent years, all eyes will be on Clemson throughout the campaign. Dabo Swinney and his youngsters just checked in as the No. 1 team in the country on the newly-released Coaches Poll. For Swinney, he’s hoping to bring home his third National Championship.

Clemson is a favorite to get back to the College Football Playoff. In order to make that happen, they’ll almost certainly need to come out on top of the ACC Championship Game. That contest will be played on either Dec. 12 or Dec. 19 at Bank of American Stadium in Charlotte.

Leading up to the ACC Championship Game, there will of course be countless incredible showdowns for fans to catch. The list includes Clemson and Miami facing off on Oct. 10, as well as Notre Dame hosting the Tigers on Nov. 21, which could be a preview of the ACC Championship Game.

With Notre Dame officially joining the conference for football this season, they’ll look to unseat Clemson as the top dogs in the ACC. That task will certainly be easier said than done. Get ready, ACC football fans. The start of the season is only a little over a month away.
