2. John Harbaugh is still one of the best coaches in football

Football, more than any other sport, can see a team’s results vary due to coaching. A strong staff can get the best out of a talented roster while a poor one won’t, leading to underachieving teams that never live up to their potential.

Baltimore never has to worry about that latter concern thanks to the presence of John Harbaugh, one of the NFL’s finest head coaches. Since he was hired in 2008 Baltimore has gone 118-74 in the regular season and won another 10 postseason games, including Super Bowl XLVII in 2012.

The Ravens learned how valuable Harbaugh was again in the middle of the 2018 season when the team changed quarterbacks from Joe Flacco to Lamar Jackson. The offensive scheme in place wasn’t set up to Jackson’s strengths, so Harbaugh encouraged his staff to revamp the entire playbook on the fly to give the rookie quarterback a chance at success.

Jackson has blossomed under Harbaugh’s coaching, winning the NFL MVP last season and helping the Ravens go 14-2 during the regular season. Harbaugh has proven to be a truly special head coach and with him on the sideline the sky is the limit for Baltimore this season.
