3 trades Chicago Cubs need to make to ensure a World Series run

The Cubs boast one of the more potent infields in the entire league. Anthony Rizzo at first, Kris Bryant at the hot corner and Javier Baez at shortstop. If there’s one weakness, it’s at second base. Even though Nico Hoerner has played well thus far, the Cubs need to solidify the position to contend with the likes of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Jonathan Villar should be at the top of Chicago’s wishlist.
As of this writing, the Miami Marlins currently hold the best record in baseball (6-1), but it’s highly doubtful the team can keep it going throughout this season. Owner Derek Jeter has made it obvious that he wants to replenish the farm system, and flipping Villar would get him a decent haul. Plus, Villar is an impending free agent.
In 26 at-bats this season, Villar is slashing .269/.333/.385 while recording one home run, seven hits, three runs scored and three runs batted in. That’s solid hitting that would put the Cubs’ batting order over the edge for the remainder of the season.
