Ronald Acuña is only a mere days off the injured list, but his make-up speed is impeccable

It’s easy to forget that beyond his incredible power and electric personality, Ronald Acuña, Jr. is among the best defensive outfielders in the National League. In another now-passed test, Acuña went full extension to rob Bryce Harper of an extra-base hit.

Words, however, cannot do Acuña’s catch justice, as outfielders should not have this kind of make-up speed. Acuña’s stride allowed him to run down Harper’s line drive to the gap, stealing a double away from him in the process. For baseball fans, this is as NSFW as it gets, and we don’t mean the verbal kind.

The Braves have work to do before Monday’s trade deadline

While Acuña’s catch should inspire confidence against the Phillies on Saturday, the Braves still have some work to do should they want to compete with the likes of the Dodgers for baseball’s greatest prize. That would mean adding to their rotation, which doesn’t inspire much confidence beyond Max Fried. Ian Anderson, through one start, looks promising but cannot be counted on just yet.

Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos is among the best in MLB, but he needs to earn his contract in a shortened season where Atlanta has a genuine chance to win this entire thing.
