College football DFS quarterback picks September 3:

Top Tier:

Jack Abraham led all quarterbacks tonight in fantasy points last year, but the Jaguars have a decent defense. There’s a reason that Tyler Johnston is higher priced. The opponent has something to do with it, but Johnston’s running ability gives him a higher ceiling. Johnston will take it upon himself to run more than any of the other quarterbacks on this slate.

That said, Johnston is still $2,300 more than Abraham on DraftKings. Price doesn’t mean much tonight, but if you find yourself wanting to load up on receivers and play two quarterbacks, it’s likely that Johnston wont be one of them. Abraham will be in all of my lineups though.

Middle Tier:

Desmond Trotter racked up 80 fantasy points over his four starts down the stretch last year for the Jaguars, including his huge game against a solid Arkansas State team. Southern Miss had some opt-outs on defense, so I really like the matchup for Trotter here. His ceiling might be higher than anyone else on this slate.

Bargain Shoppers:

Breylin Smith is an interesting pick for the price. Central Arkansas is a throw-first team. UAB has a solid defense and Smith will throw his share of interceptions, but he did throw for more than 400 yards a couple of times last year. He came close to 300 yards in the opener against Austin Peay. He will likely have to throw more than that to keep this one close.
