Joc Pederson may miss several games with a personal matter.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are dominating this season. They are the first team to 30 wins and that is thanks to strong performances from players up and down the lineup. Joc Pederson is one of the few noticeably struggling.

The outfielder is slashing .184/.286/.398 in 34 games played and is now out of the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Colorado Rockies. However, the absence has nothing to do with his play.

Joc Pederson out for an unknown length of time

Pederson is reportedly dealing with a family issue that will keep him out Sunday. He may also be out even longer and the Dodgers will have to consider making a roster move.

The obvious concern here is for Pederson and his family. Needing to potentially miss multiple games is not a good sign and hopefully everything works out.

From a baseball standpoint the Dodgers may end up making a roster move. Pederson has been in the lineup for the majority of the season as part of the talented outfield featuring himself, Mookie Better, and Cody Bellinger.

Pederson’s slash line is concerning, but he does have six home runs on the season. His numbers are also only through 34 games, which puts him in the month of May in a normal season.

The Dodgers are without Justin Turner as fans await his return from the injured list. Adding Pederson to the mix puts a bit of a hiccup in what has been a near-perfect season so far. The team has a 30-11 record and a 10-game lead entering Sunday over the third-place spot in the National League West division. The Dodgers could end up clinching a playoff berth within the week if they keep winning.
