The Chiefs revealed their championship banner ahead of Thursday night’s game.

The 2020 NFL season is finally here as the Kansas City Chiefs open up at home against the Houston Texans. The Chiefs have limited fans in attendance as well as they begin their season as the defending champions.

The Super Bowl champions usually have a packed house to celebrate winning it all. However, COVID-19 has put restrictions in place and the team was still able to reveal the championship banner in an exciting manner.

Chiefs officially the defending champions

The banner has been revealed and now the focus is all on this matchup against the Texans. The Chiefs were at least able to have a proper victory tour in the form of a parade before quarantine became the norm in the country.

There will likely be some sort of formal ceremony honoring the championship once again when fans are able to pack Arrowhead when we get back to some sort of normal. For now, we have Andy Reid in a face shield and crowd noise that sounds like a high school football game.

Chiefs fans have waited generations to see this new banner and even watching from home likely felt just as great. The team last won it all during the 1969 season and some may have wondered if they would go another generation to see the Chiefs get past their postseason woes.

Enter the magic of Patrick Mahomes and fans are now wondering how many titles he will finish his career with.
