DeVante Parker was a breakout star for the Dolphins in 2019. It appears that a hamstring injury may limit his ability to help Miami in 2020.

The Dolphins entered the 2020 season with hopes of challenging for an AFC East title. That goal will be difficult to achieve without the services of wide receiver DeVante Parker.

The former Louisville standout has been dealing with a hamstring issue during the last two weeks of Miami’s preseason, and now his potential return against the Patriots has been deemed “questionable” by team officials. It’s hard to imagine the Dolphins fielding a quality offense without their most productive wideout.

The 27-year-old wide receiver finally broke out last season by giving his team 72 catches for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns. His late-season production was a big reason why Miami was able to scratch out enough wins to finish with a respectable 5-11 record.

Brian Flores and his offensive coaching staff were counting on Parker to help Ryan Fitzpatrick or Tua Tagovaloa improve the Dolphins’ attack this season. His ability to make big plays down the field also help open up a lot of room for other pass-catchers on the team’s roster. Losing Parker will heap a lot of pressure on lesser-known Dolphins to step up and play major roles.

Miami fans will hope that Parker’s removal from the Patriots game is largely a precautionary measure. If he’s forced to miss significant action it’s going to put the team’s offense in a nearly impossible situation.

Parker may not be the best-known receiver in the NFL, but he is the No. 1 playmaker for the Dolphins offense. They can’t afford to lose him if they hope to flirt with the postseason in 2020.
