Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick will set another record on Sunday Night.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick are both a little long in the tooth.

Carroll turned 69 years old while Belichick is a comparative spring chicken at 68. When these two future Hall of Famers meet up on Sunday Night Football, they’ll both be a part of yet another NFL record.

The oldest combined age of two opposing head coaches in NFL history.

Age hasn’t made Pete Carroll or Bill Belichick less effective as a coach

Both Carroll and Belichick are expected to compete for playoff spots in 2020, but they will do so with completely different offenses when compared to what we’ve seen in past seasons. After letting Tom Brady chuck it wherever he pleased, Belichick has revamped the offense around Cam Newton’s ability as a runner, and that new look helped Newton run for two touchdowns as Josh McDaniels and company took down the Miami Dolphins.

Carroll is an old-school, smashmouth head coach, but his decision to let Russell Wilson cook and air it out against the Atlanta Falcons proved extremely wise, as Wilson had four touchdowns passes against just for incomplete passes against Atlanta’s porous defense.

Given Seattle’s linebacking corps and New England’s elite secondary, the contrast in style should make for one of the most interesting and competitive games on the Week 2 slate.

Carroll and Belichick might approaching 70, but both of them are just as sharp as they were in their younger years. Now that both of them are armed with elite athletes at quarterback, their clash on Sunday Night could be one of the best games of the year.
