Sunday, Sept. 20

New York Giants (0-1) at Chicago Bears (1-0), 1:00 pm

Giants: Big Blue defenders have now surrendered 52 offensive touchdowns in their last 17 regular-season contests dating back to the start of 2019. Bears’ quarterback Mitch Trubisky will be taking a look at a team that has allowed at least two scoring tosses in 10 of those outings and a total of 33 scores through their air over that span.

Bears: A year ago, much-maligned quarterback Mitch Trubisky played and started in 15 games, served up 17 touchdown passes compared to 10 interceptions and lost two fumbles. But he threw for three scores and the team scored 21 points in the final 15 minutes at Detroit. Matt Nagy’s club managed only 55 fourth-quarters points last season.

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) at Dallas Cowboys (0-1), 1:00 pm

Falcons: Last season, only the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets gained fewer yards on the ground than Dan Quinn’s club. In last Sunday’s home loss to the Seahawks, the Falcons (with Todd Gurley) ran for only 72 yards on 21 attempts. But this rushing attack could get healthy against a highly-suspect Dallas Cowboys’ defense.

Cowboys: There’s a new head coach in Mike McCarthy and the same offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore. But Dallas is just 5-9 in its last 14 games after a 3-0 start last year. The team has been inconsistent in terms of scoring, totaling 31-plus points in each of their eight wins while averaging 17.1 points per game in nine losses since ’19.
