After a poor season opener performance, Cleveland Browns wide receiver silenced the critics with his first touchdown of the season.

The Cleveland Browns had a bad showing in their season opener against the Baltimore Ravens. While quarterback Baker Mayfield received the brunt of criticism, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wasn’t immune from the negative takes either because he simply didn’t produce. Entering their Week 2 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals, Beckham said he “wants to get back at” the critics. He did just that.

In the second quarter, Mayfield targeted Beckham deep down field along the left sideline. The star wideout left Bengals cornerback William Jackson III in his dust to haul in the 43-yard touchdown.

Beckham heard the noise

Last week, Beckham didn’t do much to endear himself to NFL fans, especially those who play fantasy football. In his game against the Ravens, Mayfield targeted Beckham 10 times, but the receiver could only muster three catches for a measly 22 yards.

Beckham has been the subject of criticism in the football media world earlier this week. In fact, many were calling for the Browns to trade Beckham to another team only one game into the 2020 season. This is nothing new for Beckham, because he heard the same talk last season when Cleveland was failing to live up to their lofty expectations. The same can be said for this year, especially when looking at all the additions the team made in the offseason.

Beckham successfully silenced the haters, at least for one night.
