Running backs don’t have what it takes to block Kyle Van Noy

Brian Flores brought Van Noy to Miami with him as a New England Patriots transplant, and he hasn’t disappointed. Van Noy has provided veteran leadership to a loaded Dolphins defense that’s still trying to put all the right pieces together.

On Thursday against Gardner Minshew and the Jacksonville Jaguars in the self-coined “Battle of the Beards”, Van Noy got in the Washington State product’s goatee right after James Robinson tried to get in his path. Robinson’s attempt did little to delay the inevitable.

This isn’t necessarily Robinson’s fault, but he’s giving about 50 pounds to Van Noy, potentially more. Expecting the scat-back to be able to chip Van Noy isn’t realistic, and must have been a blocking miscommunication up front. Unfortunately for Robinson, he got blown up and spread across most NFL Twitter feeds in a matter of minutes.

The Jaguars 1-1 start has been inspiring, but against the 0-2 Dolphins they haven’t looked like any sort of real threat in the AFC. It’s still early in the season, but Minshew Mania came come crashing back down to earth at any minute.

Next. Sorry, Tua. The Dolphins best chance in 2020 is with Ryan Fitzpatrick. dark
