Zinedine Zidane has already successfully gotten rid of Gareth Bale this summer, but now his sights are set on axing another Real Madrid attacker.

Real Madrid have entrusted Zinedine Zidane with a lot of influence over the construction of his current squad. The French manager was successful in his quest to offload Gareth Bale. Now he’s anxious to ship Luka Jovic out if he can find any club willing to take him.

According to AS, the Serbian striker’s preference was to return to Eintracht Frankfurt. He made his name with the German club with a prolific goal scoring record before securing a big-money move to Real Madrid.

Unfortunately for Jovic, Frankfurt don’t have room for Jovic, or his massive salary, in their current squad.

Jovic certainly has talent, but his massive struggles at Real Madrid have shattered his confidence. Other clubs are hesitant to hand him the playing time and trust required to get his career back on track.

The silver lining to this situation for Jovic is that officials at Real Madrid haven’t given up on Jovic entirely. Their preference would be to send him out on loan rather than part with him in a permanent basis. A season or two away from the bright lights of Madrid could allow him to rebuild his value and confidence.

Ultimately, Zidane is likely to win out. As soon as Real Madrid find a taker for Jovic they’ll do what’s necessary to get him off their books in the short-term. A loan is still more likely than a permanent transfer though. The club won’t be willing to take a massive loss on the £60 million they paid Frankfurt for his services in the first place. No other club is going to offer anything close to that fee given his recent struggles.

Even so, Zidane’s transfer axe is set to claim another victim. He continues to control the Real Madrid squad in a ruthless manner. Eventually, that will come back to haunt the forceful manager.
