Breaking news has arrived out of Boston, as the Red Sox have fired manager Ron Roenicke after just one season in charge.

It’s been a season to forget for the Boston Red Sox, with things going from bad to worse for manager Ron Roenicke. After just one year leading the Red Sox as the club’s manager, he’s already out of a job.

Per a report, Boston has indeed decided to part ways with Roenicke, firing him after the team had one of its worst seasons in recent memory, being eliminated from postseason contention for a while now.

Ron Roenicke has been fired as Boston’s manager after the team posted a losing record in 2020

As of this writing, with only one game left in the shortened 60-game season, the Red Sox are in dead last of the AL East standings with a 23-36 record. It’s most certainly not what the Boston faithful envisioned would happen in 2020.

Plain and simple, Boston has looked like a shadow of itself throughout the year. The fanbase still hasn’t gotten over the heartbreak of seeing Mookie Betts and David Price traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Unfortunately, the product on the field for the club has been a massive disappointment this year, with Roenicke receiving plenty of blame for that.

Clearly, the front office hasn’t been pleased (and rightfully so) with what Boston has been doing each night. Therefore, the decision to let Roenicke go was a pretty easy one. Now, who will replace him? There’s certainly going to be people lining up outside of Fenway Park to try and land an interview.

For now, fans will need to be a little patient to see who ends up taking the job, with the No. 1 focus of course being on getting this team back on track and playing at the elite level we’ve been so used to seeing them play at.
