Ron Rivera is fighting through so much to lead the Washington Football Team.

Ron Rivera knew he had a tough task ahead of him when he took over as head coach of the Washington Football Team, but that monumental ordeal quickly turned into an almost insurmountable one after Rivera was diagnosed with cancer.

While he deserves credit for plowing on ahead and refusing to led the disease win, Rivera’s health is making things like halftime interviews a physical challenge.

After he got done with an interview at halftime of Washington’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, Rivera needed to be helped to a locker room by a member of Washington’s staff, showing the physical toll this season is taking on him.

Ron Rivera is locked in a tough game against Lamar Jackson and the Ravens

After Jackson’s poor Monday night showing and the thought that quarterback Dwayne Haskins could be benched following another poor performance, many thought Rivera’s squad would be turned into mincemeat against the Ravens.

They find themselves down 28-10, but they did manage to intercept Jackson and get a solid first half out of Haskins.

Rivera has gone in for IVs at halftime throughout the season. His absence in the locker room in Week 1 prompted Haskins to conjure up a rousing speech that helped Washington take down the Philadelphia Eagles.

Rivera’s health is certainly not being aide by going through the daily trials and tribulations of an NFL head coach, but his commitment to the game and desire to not let his illness affect his daily life are pushing him through some very tough days. If what he’s doing doesn’t prove that he is as tough a man and as respected a leader as there is in the league, nothing will.
