LeBron James honors Kobe Bryant with T-shirt before Game 4 of NBA Finals

LeBron James is honoring Kobe Bryant tonight.

The Los Angeles Lakers have spared no expense and taken every opportunity to honor the life, legacy, and memory of Kobe Bryant following his January helicopter crash. Ahead of Game 4 against a resurgent Miami Heat team that will field Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic, LeBron James and the Lakers apparently decided they needed a little Kobe magic to help them pull out the win in Game 4.

James showed his admiration for Kobe by showing up to Game 4 with a shirt that had Bryant’s image emblazoned on it with the quote “More Than Ever With Love” below it.

The Lakers have paid homage to Kobe Bryant throughout this series

The Lakers have often eschewed their usual, purple, gold, and white threads in the playoffs. Instead, they have work an all-black jersey with a snakeskin look to it, clearly referencing Bryant’s “Black Mamba” nickname.

If anything defined Bryant as a player, it’s his ferocious competitive spirit and tenacity. Ahead 2-0 going into Game 3, LA seemed to lack that same edge, as Jimmy Butler was making every shot he attempted while they turned the ball over like it was their job against a relentless Heat defense. Now that the Heat are rested and have two of their big heavy-hitters back in the fold in Game 4, the Lakers will need to channel the same fire that Bryant had in every game during his 20-year career to push themselves ahead of the Heat and take a 3-1 lead.

Kobe’s legacy on the court will live forever, and one of the main reasons why is the fact that he was as tough a competitor as we’ve ever seen in the league. If LeBron and Anthony Davis come out with a Kobe-esque mean streak, they could win this game easily.
