The Heisman Trophy race is heating up but the Clemson duo of Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne may be the co-favorites, but Najee Harris is lurking.

The Heisman race is heating up as quarterbacks, running backs and receivers face new challenges and deliver more highlights.

How did Week 6 of the college football season change the shape of the Heisman standings?

A few quarterbacks will have to prove losses aren’t the end of their Heisman contention while the heavy hitters are still out there taking care of business.

Honorable Mentions:  Zach WilsonSam Howell, Najee Harris, Kyle Pitts, Shane Buechele

5. Sam Ehlinger, Texas, QB

Sam Ehlinger had a hell of a time against Oklahoma, almost single-handed driving Texas into overtime. He scored two touchdowns in the final four minutes of the game and accounted for six in total. Even if his performance came in a losing effort, Ehlinger has played at a high level all season with 1,211 yards and 21 total touchdowns.

4. Kyle Trask, Florida, QB

Kyle Trask’s Gators were upset on Saturday by Texas A&M but through no fault of the quarterback. He threw four touchdowns and 312 yards with a 71.9 percent completion rating and a 195.0 passer rating. His defense allowing 41 points was Trask’s biggest problem. The senior now has 996 yards passing and 14 touchdowns with just one interception in three games. The next outing he fails to throw for four touchdowns will be his first.

3. Travis Etienne, Clemson, RB

Arguably the most impressive thing about Travis Etienne’s start to the 2020 campaign is how much he has made himself a factor in the passing game. He had 114 yards receiving in and a touchdown against Virginia then followed that up with 73 yards on eight catches against Miami. Bringing that up first should take nothing away from the magic he’s worked with his feet. He racked up 149 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers on Saturday night.

2. Mac Jones, Alabama, QB

Mac Jones doesn’t have the flash of Tua Tagovailoa, but he is getting the job done for Alabama so far. He needed to be on top of his game for Alabama as Ole Miss kept it close for much of the night. Jones came away with 417 yards and four touchdowns to improve his season totals to 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. So long as the Crimson Tide keep winning, Jones will stay near the top of the Heisman standings. After Najee Harris rushed for 206 yards and five touchdowns, he’s well on his way to pushing his way into the Top 5 as well.

1. Trevor Lawrence, Clemson, QB

It’s been forever and a day since Trevor Lawrence threw an interception. He just keeps chugging away. Against Miami, it was more of the same. He routinely managed 292 yards and three touchdown passes along with a touchdown on the ground as Clemson dispatched their first ranked opponent of the season. Until someone proves otherwise, Lawrence is the one to beat.
