The New York Jets decided they had enough of Le’Veon Bell after just 18 games, cutting the former star running back as they spiral out of control. Despite his poor performance since 2019, Bell still has plenty of suitors for his services, with the Kansas City Chiefs standing out as the most likely option.

In addition to Kansas City, who wants Bell to team with rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins have all inquired about his availability. Not only would Jets fans have to deal with losing Bell, but they might watch him go to a division rival.

Le’Veon Bell might not head to Kansas City after all

Bell’s 3.3 yards per carry average are well below what was expected of a guy who signed a four-year, $52 million contract in the 2019 offseason, but many are writing those numbers off as a product of playing under Adam Gase. Given Gase’s vindictive history and expression that he didn’t even want Bell in the first place, it’s not hard to think that is a possibility.

Miami might not be a playoff team, but they need an RB1 with more star power than Myles Gaskin and Bell trains there in the offseason. In Buffalo, the injuries to rookie Zack Moss and the disappointing play of Devin Singletary have opened up a hole in the backfield that Bell could plug up. Kansas City would be too much fun given the offensive minds on that coaching staff. With Bell’s ability to pass protect and run routes in addition to his wiggle between the tackles, Kansas City could have a reliable running game that carries them deep into the postseason.

With one of the league’s most versatile backs available for a discounted price as he tries to prove he is elite once again, it makes sense that contenders are trying to beef up their depth charts by signing Bell.
