Taylor Lewan may be out the rest of the season with a devastating injury suffered Sunday.

The Tennessee Titans remained undefeated Sunday with an overtime victory over a Houston Texans team that may already be eliminated from the postseason through six games.

The Titans improved to 5-0 and that is cause for celebration. The only problem is an injury suffered by Taylor Lewan appears to be serious. He may even be out for the remainder of the season.

Titans may have lost Taylor Lewan

This is just terrible news for the Titans. Lewan is a three-time Pro-Bowler and one of the leaders on the Titans offense. The Titans have not released anything official as of Sunday night as the offensive tackle is set for an MRI on Monday.

Derrick Henry went off against the Texans for 202 yards and two touchdowns. His total on the day included an electric 94-yard run as well. However, the entire dynamic on offense can change with Lewan out so early in the season. Ryan Tannehill may also see his numbers go down without his Pro Bowl tackle blocking up front.

Lewan missing the rest of the season would be a tough blow, but not one that ruins the team’s chances at chasing a Super Bowl.

Assuming Lewan is at least out next week, the Titans will face a huge test against a fellow undefeated AFC contender in the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tennessee has scored 42 points in back-to-back games and had consecutive 30-point performances before that. The Steelers defense just made the Cleveland Browns offense look foolish, so Titans fans will learn if Lewan being out totally changes the dynamic of the season.

Any injury is tough news. One happening to such an important player means the coaching staff will have to come up with a great plan to replace his play on the field.
