UFC vet Sean “the Cannon” Gannon is being forced to turn in his badge after 20 years with the Boston Police Department.

Gannon is best known for a viral video of him in an unsanctioned bare knuckle boxing match against Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson in which he won. After the match with Ferguson, the UFC signed him up for a fight with Branden Lee Hinkle. Hinkle won by first round TKO. Due to complications with his job, Gannon quit fighting in 2005.

Fighting was something Gannon did on the side of his job as a police officer with the Boston Police Department. After suffering a few concussions due to fighting, the BPD claimed Gannon couldn’t perform his basic duties and placed him on desk duties in 2006.

His time with the BPD seems to be at an end with the department ordering him to turn in his badge and gun.

During an AMA on Reddit.com, Gannon said “Turned in a dirty cop that was framing innocent black teens, and went to the FBI with documents alleging a sexual assault and police cover up. My reward was being relieved of duty and ordered to turn in my badge and gun.”

The officer Gannon is referring to is officer Trent Holland and claims, “He framed an innocent black man for the murder a white woman and her baby, destroying trust between the police and the black community, and creating a great racial divide.”

Gannon will be on Reddit answering questions under the username TheRealSeanGannon referring to his ordeal with the BPD. He is also trying to get his story out before he is ordered to not talk to media.

Gannon says if he is silenced, you can see updates at www.mixedmartialarts.com.
