Rob Manfred has no time for Jeff Luhnow trying to defend himself and the Houston Astros

MLB commissioner Rob Manfred knows what Jeff Luhnow did with the Houston Astros.

The former Astros general manager Luhnow has recently tried to deny his connection in the team’s infamous sign-stealing scandal back in the 2017 MLB season. Houston won its first World Series championship in franchise history. Though some may argue Manfred let the Astros players off easy in 2020, he didn’t exactly let Luhnow off the hook on this ESPN radio spot on Monday.

How will America react to the hated Houston Astros come the 2021 MLB season?

The Astros’ 2020 shame tour ended in Game 7 of the 2020 ALCS, as they fell to the top-seeded Tampa Bay Rays at Petco Park in San Diego, California in front of exactly zero fans. Houston only made the postseason because they were the worst second-place finisher in the American League this year. In every other year of baseball, Houston wouldn’t have even qualified for the postseason.

Fate would have it there will only be between 11 and 14 MLB games played in front of fans this season: All seven games of the 2020 NLCS between the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers and however far the 2020 World Series goes between the Rays and the Dodgers. The only ballpark that will have fans present will be Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.

Luhnow may be out of a job, as are former Astros manager A.J. Hinch, former Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora and would-be New York Mets manger Carlos Beltran for their roles in the sign-stealing scandal. However, fans have yet to fully display their disdain for the Astros in-person. Once fans are in seats again for Astros games, there will be hell to pay for the cheaters.

Manfred made sure to tell the world Luhnow disgraced the game of baseball on ESPN radio.
