The Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher pokes fun at himself, as he ensured everyone in the nation gets a free taco.

Game 1 of the 2020 World Series did not go the way the Tampa Bay Rays had envisioned in their minds. The Rays were shellacked 8-3 by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who recorded 10 hits throughout the night and provided enough run support for Clayton Kershaw to even his MLB postseason record to 12-12. Not only did he hit clutch hit after clutch hit, he managed to steal second base. Why is that so important? Everyone in the United States gets a free Doritos Locos Taco from Taco Bell!

As it turns out, one player wants some credit for giving everyone a free taco that’s worth less than $2. No, it’s not Betts. Rather, it’s Rays ace Tyler Glasnow, who allowed Betts to steal the base.

Don’t forget to thank Tyler Glasnow for the free lunch

Glasnow had a rough night against the Dodgers on Tuesday. The 27-year-old right-hander lasted all of 4.1 innings, where he allowed six earned runs on three hits while walking eight batters. But here’s the most telling statistic: Glasnow threw 112 pitches, 58 of which were strikes. That’s not good.

Betts didn’t just steal one bag in Game 1, he managed to record two, both at the expense of Glasnow and catcher Mike Zunino. The former AL MVP and Boston Red Sox outfielder went 2-for-4 on the night, with his lone RBI coming off a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth-inning off pitcher Josh Fleming.

Give credit where credit is due: Glasnow has a good sense of humor. He’ll look to lower his bloated 12.46 ERA later on in the World Series, but that’s if Tampa Bay doesn’t get swept. The Rays look to even up the Fall Classic against the Dodgers on Wednesday night, as Blake Snell takes the mound for Tampa Bay.
