Justin Turner puts the first run across for the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 Friday.

Justin Turner touched ’em all on his first inning solo shot in Game 3 of the 2020 World Series.

With two outs in the top of the first vs. the Tampa Bay Rays‘ best pitcher this postseason in right-hander Charlie Morton, Turner gave Los Angeles Dodgers ace Walker Buehler an early run of support before he even took to the mound. This is the best pitching matchup of this best-of-seven series so far, so every run that is scored by either team is precious. Turner lifted the Dodgers early.

Could this home run be what the Los Angeles Dodgers need to win Game 3?

It’s still very early in the ballgame, but when your offense is able to put a run across in the first frame, that gives your team a ton of confidence, while simultaneously putting some unwanted pressure on the opposition. Because this game is technically a “home game” for the Rays, they don’t want to undo all the good they did to “steal” Game 2 from the Dodgers on Wednesday night.

What this 2020 MLB season has shown us is these were the two best teams in the league for a reason. They are resilient ball clubs and have been able to win postseason series in a multitude of ways. Turner may have given the Dodgers an early spark, but a few more strong innings out of Morton may swing the momentum back in the Rays favor. Simply put, one run will not win it.
