There’s positive news coming out on Ben Roethlisberger

Even in a down season under center, Ben Roethlisberger has played an essential role to the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ offense on their way to an 8-0 start. Now, the team can exhale a sigh of relief knowing his impending status for Week 10.

According to reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Roethlisberger Roethlisberger suffered injuries to both of his knees in Sunday’s victory against the Dallas Cowboys. Although cautious, the team is expecting him to be back under center for their AFC North matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals at home.

Just before halftime, Roethlisberger was seen leaving early and heading towards the locker room after being hit in the left knee. Third-year quarterback Mason Rudolph would enter the game to close out the second quarter. Roethlisberger would return to begin the third, helping the team come back from a 10-point deficit to pick up the 24-19 victory.

The undefeated season remains in-tact with Roethlisberger at the helm

Roethlisberger played one of his better games on the season against the worn-down Cowboys defense. Finishing 29-of-43 for 306 yards, the 38-year-old would connect with JuJu Smith-Schuster for a 31-yard touchdown and Eric Ebron from eight yards out with 2:14 remaining. Thanks to a pair of quality defensive stops late, the Steelers remain undefeated another week.

Although 2020 might not be the season Roethlisberger envisioned production wise, the record speaks for itself. In eight games, the longtime signal-caller has thrown for 1,934 yards 18 touchdown passes and just four interceptions. However, the biggest concern might be his deep ball touch as his average throw has only gone 6.7 yards this year.

The Steelers remember life without Big Ben in 2019. Between the likes of Rudolph and third-stringer Devlin Hodges, Pittsburgh’s offense stalled to be one of the league’s worst, seeing their top-tier defense be wasted on an 8-8 season.

If this is his curtain call, Roethlisberger is going out in style with the Steel City. For the first time in franchise history, Pittsburgh is 8-0 while Roethlisberger will be on a team with a .500 record or better for a 17th straight season.
