Is Aaron Rodgers being real, or just trolling reporters?

It’s safe to say the past several years of the Aaron RodgersGreen Bay Packers marriage have been rocky. Less than a year after finishing 13-3, the Packers drafted Rodgers eventual replacement in Jordan Love over a loaded wide receiver class.

If he still has a few good years left, would Rodgers be willing to leave Lambeau Field? Well, he could already be thinking about it.

During Wednesday’s press conference, Rodgers gave high praise for Packers’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and the work he’s done this season. With head coaching jobs needing to be filled, the 36-year-old quarterback believes Hackett would make a great candidate somewhere in the future. He also hopes for now, Hackett doesn’t go anywhere.

That is unless Rodgers leaves first.

Is this a clear message to the franchise?

The Packers’ offense has stumbled to find a consistent No.2 weapon at the wide receiver position this offseason. Sitting at 6-2, the team had a chance to bring in Texans’ go-to target Will Fuller, yet failed to meet with the struggling franchise on their asking price of a second-round pick.

Rodgers has made the most of limited arsenal, finding a resurgence under center to begin the decade. In eight games, the long-time Packers star has thrown for 2,253 yards, 24 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Last week against the San Francisco 49ers, he finished with his fourth four-touchdown outing on the way to a 34-17 win.

At some point, one has to feel for Rodgers as he enters the back-end of his career. The team continues to refuse a rebuild around him and instead adds players who are struggling to even see the field. Matt LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst might have inherited one of the game’s top pocket-passers and refuse to help him even when he’s asking for it.

Settle down Packers fans, Rodgers isn’t going anywhere now. Green Bay will have him under contract at least until the 2021 season. After that? All bets are off in the race to land A-Rod for one final run at the Lombardi Trophy.
