Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow doesn’t like scary movies or haunted houses, but so far in his rookie year, he’s the one terrifying people.

Joe Burrow won’t be visiting any haunted houses any time soon. He doesn’t enjoy slasher films. He doesn’t want to watch Harry Potter. Yes, even Harry scares him.

No, Burrow is more about Nick at Nite and SpongeBob Squarepants. He’s a scaredy cat. Well, scaredy Bengal.

Burrow poked fun at his aversion to all things terror on Wednesday afternoon during a press conference, but one thing through the first eight games of his career is also clear.

He doesn’t scare easy on the football field.

Halfway through his maiden voyage in the NFL, Burrow has thrown for 2,272 yards with 11 touchdowns against five interceptions. This despite having absolutely no offensive line to speak of and star running back Joe Mixon missing time with injury.

It’s been nothing short of a tour de force for the No. 1 overall pick, even with the Bengals struggling to a 2-5-1 record. Still, Cincinnati is far more competitive than it was last year en route to the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. To date, only the Baltimore Ravens have blown the Bengals out, with every other game either being close or going into the win column.

For the rest of 2020, it’s all about development for Burrow. Maybe he overcomes his fears of scary movies and haunted houses in the offseason, but until we get into January, Burrow will continue terrifying opponents on a weekly basis.

Up next? A date with the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field.
