Many AP Top 25 teams had the week off but there are still some big changes in the Week 12 AP Top 25 in the new college football rankings.

Can we officially refer to Week 11 as the moment we realized the college football season was in trouble? With 15 postponements or cancellations, including some big games between Alabama and LSU, Texas A&M and Tennessee and Ohio State and Maryland, the season limped through its 11th week with some contenders missing.

While a lot of great games were cut from the schedule this weekend, we still got to see a few solid matchups and a shootout that might just get one team back into the AP Top 25.

The weekend started with a Friday night blowout by Cincinnati over East Carolina that surprised essentially no one but the Bearcats are looking like serious playoff threats.

Saturday began with a battle for the Old Brass Spittoon which was won by Indiana for the first time over Michigan State since 2016. The Hoosiers shut the Spartans out and solidified that top-10 ranking, beating the Spartans, Michigan and Penn State in the same year for the first time in school history.

Oh, and that shootout I was talking about? North Carolina was down 45-24 and pieced together a 35-0 run to beat Wake Forest in an exciting battle. This might be enough to get the Tar Heels back in the rankings. Also in the ACC at noon was a battle between Miami and Virginia Tech in which the Hurricanes narrowly escaped with a win.

Notre Dame took care of business in a sleepy afternoon slate, putting away former Irish quarterback Phil Jurkovec and Boston College by two touchdowns. The only other ranked teams to see action in the afternoon were No. 20 USC, which narrowly escaped Arizona 34-30, and No. 23 Northwestern which took care of Purdue on the road.

Wisconsin took care of Michigan on the road as the Wolverines continue to look for answers and Florida held on to beat a familiar face in Feleipe Franks and Arkansas.

What might the AP Top 25 look like heading into Sunday?
