The Steelers are 10-0, and the 1972 Miami Dolphins must be getting nervous.

The Dolphins can’t pop their champagne just yet, as their yearly celebration has been put off not just by the COVID-19 pandemic, but also the Pittsburgh Steelers, who advanced to 10-0 on the season with a win over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The Steelers weren’t necessarily impressive on Sunday, but avoided a loss that’s become all too familiar to Pittsburgh fans during the Mike Tomlin era — on the road against an inferior opponent.

With a healthy Ben Roethlisberger in tow, and the Steelers offense seemingly clicking on all cylinders, Pittsburgh is greeted with a familiar question for the last undefeated team in the NFL: Will they finish the year unblemished?

The Steelers schedule sets up for an intriguing finish

The two toughest games remaining on the Steelers schedule are against the Ravens next Thursday night in a Thanksgiving contest, and then on the road in Buffalo just two weeks later. Assuming they don’t go down either of those weeks, they surely have a chance.

Pittsburgh also faces the Colts at home, which poses a challenge in their own right given Indianapolis’ improved defense, and a quarterback who’s as familiar as any against Keith Butler’s defensive system in Philip Rivers.

Yet, there’s a reason the Steelers will be favored in their remaining games. Four of their games are against AFC North competition, which they’re rightfully expected to beat. Add in a matchup at Heinz Field against the Washington Football Team, and that’s at least three winnable games against far inferior teams.

Pittsburgh is off to their first 10-0 start in franchise history. Every win adds to the Steelers history books, creating a new mark in arguably Ben Roethlisberger’s best, last chance at his third Super Bowl.
