The Los Angeles Dodgers could shake things up this offseason with some big trades.

The Los Angeles Dodgers might’ve finally broken their postseason hex with a championship in 2020, but they might find it difficult to once again climb the mountain if Andrew Freidman gets complacent and doesn’t look to add more talent on this roster.

While the Dodgers should look to add any one of these three trade candidates, they need to avoid one potential ticking time bomb.

Look for the Dodgers to make these three trades and avoid one potentially awful pairing

Pick Analysis. Arizona Diamondbacks. player. Scouting Report. INF. Eduardo Escobar. 3. 8

Escobar’s ascension from a slap-hitting middle infielder with Minnesota to a genuine offensive centerpiece in Arizona stopped dead in its tracks last season. After piling up an insane 74 extra-base hits while driving in 118 runs last year, Escobar couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat last year, going just .212 with four home runs. Given the rebuilding direction, Arizona seems to be heading in, Escobar, a free agent after 2021, might be on the move, and the Dodgers could be a solid spot for him to resurrect his value.

While Escobar might have a tough time earning a starting spot if they bring back Justin Turner and plug Gavin Lux in at second base, his versatility will allow him to play in several different positions, which will allow him to get his potentially rejuvenated bat into the lineup. Given the expiring contract, LA won’t have to part with an A+ prospect to make this trade happen. A move for a superstar like Francisco Lindor might be a sexier move and more on-brand with what the Dodgers have done lately, but adding Escobar could give them extra pop at just a fraction of the cost.
