Marquette beat No. 4 Wisconsin on an incredible, buzzer-beating tip-in.

The Wisconsin Badgers were 0.9 seconds away from overtime and the chance to push for a perfect 4-0 record in the extra period Friday night. Thanks to Marquette, Justin Lewis and an improbable game-winner, they fell to 3-1 instead.

With less than a second left on the clock and the Golden Eagles trailing by one point, D.J. Carton went to the foul line. He made the first free throw to tie the game at 65 but missed the second.

All the Badgers had to do to force overtime was secure the rebound, or at least tap it anywhere but into the basket before the clock expired. Instead, Lewis was able to get one hand on the ball over the Wisconsin player trying to box him out. With one fluid, graceful motion, he heaved the ball back toward the rim, where it bounced softly, hit the back of the iron and fell in:

It’s not often you’ll see a buzzer-beater like the one in Marquette vs. Wisconsin

Even without the impossible buzzer-beating tip-in, Lewis was the hero of the night, finishing with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks on 6-of-10 shooting off the bench. Carton struggled on 4-of-13 shooting but still finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in the upset.

The No. 5 Badgers just couldn’t get anything going offensively, shooting 37.5 percent from the field and 29.2 percent from 3-point territory. D’Mitrik Trice led Wisconsin with 17 points and 6 boards in the loss.
