They need a quarterback whisperer, not a wannabe quarterback whisperer

The Jacksonville Jaguars will be one of the most appealing jobs if it were to come available. While Doug Marrone is still the team’s head coach, it feels like owner Shahid Khan will go in a different direction this winter. Keep in mind he just fired long-time general manager David Caldwell ahead of Week 13. With both jobs opening up in Jacksonville, many candidates will be interested in them.

The best thing the Jaguars have going for them is they will have a top-two pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, meaning they will be able to take either Trevor Lawrence out of Clemson or Justin Fields out of Ohio State as their next franchise quarterback. For that reason, top NFL candidates and several college coaches may want to go to Duval County to make this thing work with the Jaguars.

I am not saying Dabo Swinney or Ryan Day will leave Clemson or Ohio State to keep coaching their star college quarterback at the next level, but this is a place and a situation where it could happen. Because Harbaugh cannot make a Michigan quarterback look good for the life of him, it could prove disastrous if he were to be either Lawrence or Fields’ first NFL head coach in Jacksonville.

Simply put, Jacksonville is running out of time to ensure the franchise will stick in North Florida. The Jaguars have to get this top-two pick right. No more Blaine Gabbert or Blake Bortles nonsense. They must draft their Peyton Manning equivalent in the top two this spring. Unfortunately, Harbaugh cannot be trusted to bring any young quarterback along any more.
