Cam Newton would love to have this throw back vs. the Los Angeles Rams in primetime.

The latest interception by Cam Newton is one of the worst ones you will ever see.

The New England Patriots had a short field on the Los Angeles Rams thanks to a Myles Bryant interception of Jared Goff on the previous possession. One would have thought Newton would have gotten points to cut into the 10-0 New England deficit. Instead, the Patriots quarterback threw this terrible ball and Rams defender Kenny Young scampered the other way to pay dirt.

New England cannot afford to lose this game to the Rams and win the division

The Patriots are 6-6 through the first 13 weeks of the 2020 NFL season. Though they are still alive in the AFC playoff race, a tough road loss to an 8-4 Rams team might mean New England has to watch the postseason at home from the couch for the first time in over a decade. The potential 14-point swing on Newton’s errant pass was only magnified on the ensuing Patriots possession.

The Patriots would regroup now down 17-0. They would march down the field on their next possession. With it fourth-and-goal, Newton would be stuffed behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of yardage and a turnover on downs. This is not how a good team goes about beating a possibly a great team like the Rams on the road in a high-stakes game. New England is in trouble.

How this game shakes out will go a long way towards determining if the Patriots are a playoff team.
