Jamal Adams reveals he was in a bad place mentally while he was with the New York Jets.

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams battled depression while he was with the New York Jets.

Adams spent his first three NFL seasons out of LSU with Gang Green before forcing a trade out of town this offseason. New York has not qualified for the AFC playoffs in over a decade. The Jets have been one of the most dysfunctional franchises in football for a very long time. So it is totally understandable for a star player like Adams to deal with mental health issues while playing there.

This will be a bit of a revenge game for Jamal Adams vs. the New York Jets

It just so happens Adams’ new team in Seattle drew his old team in in the inter-conference divisional rotation. Given that Adams was teammates with most of the guys on the 2020 Jets, things could be a bit awkward in the Hawks nest. Seattle is destined to make the NFC playoffs yet again, while the winless Jets are poised to have the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The great part about Adams being in a winning environment like Seattle is that his talent can be fully harnessed. He plays for an excellent defensive-minded head coach in Pete Carroll. Not having to deal with the perpetual frustrations that always exist in an organization like the Jets must have Adams in a better place mentally. Hopefully, Sunday’s game vs. the Jets will be therapeutic for him.

It seems Adams is not dealing with depression in Seattle to the degree he did playing in New York.
