The Dolphins just got some really bad news from Pittsburgh

The Miami Dolphins were dealt some bad news after Pittsburgh’s comeback win.

The Miami Dolphins had to be rooting for Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts in their matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A Colts win would’ve locked up the No. 2 seed for Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Miami’s Week 17 opponent, provide the Bills beat the Patriots on Monday night.

However, the Dolphins can’t bank on Buffalo just lying down and resting for the postseason now that Ben Roethlisberger and Pittsburgh completed their improbable comeback, going from a 24-7 deficit to a 28-24 win.

Now that the Bills need to pick up a win to preserve any shot of getting the No. 2 seed, they will try to go all out against head coach Brian Flores and the Dolphins, who will face a more complicated path to the postseason.

The Dolphins will face a motivated Josh Allen in Week 17

Allen, who has performed better against Miami than he has against any other team in his short career, will try to push Sean McDermott and Buffalo to 13-3, which would give them the No. 2 seed in the AFC after Kansas City clinched the No. 1 spot.

There are four teams vying for three Wild Card spots alongside Miami, as the Cleveland Browns, Indianapolis Colts, and Baltimore Ravens also want to make it to the postseason. Indy and Baltimore have what appear to be winnable games on paper against the Jaguars and Bengals, respectively, while the Browns will have to pray for an upset against the Steelers.

Flores‘ flip-flopping between Tua Tagovailoa and Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback might make it seem like Miami is limping to the finish line, but this is a loaded defense that has won games consistently despite poor weapons on offense. If a few lucky breaks go their way, they could make it into the final field of seven teams.

No one wants to face that Miami secondary, which could make them sneaky upset candidates.
