Jared Goff is playing through what appears to be a nasty thumb injury against the Seahawks.

Jared Goff and the Los Angeles Rams lost to the New York Jets in Week 15 and were dealing with a much tougher task Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Unfortunately for Rams fans, Goff and the offense could not move the ball and ended up losing once again as their playoff hopes hang in the balance. One explanation for Goff struggling may be his thumb injury that looks both extremely gruesome and painful. See for yourself.

Goff toughing it out

That is his right thumb, on his throwing hand, looking smashed, dislocated, and not like any normal human thumb. But there is Goff, casually walking it off and shoving it back into place. Even watching him mess with it is enough to make some people gag or feel queasy.

Goff is not living up to expectations and failed to throw a touchdown Sunday in the loss that saw the Rams score nine points. He is in fact dealing with that nasty thumb injury, but if he is staying out on the field he has to produce. What once seemed to be a dynamic duo of Goff and Sean McVay is now in danger of missing the postseason for a second straight season.

The Rams quarterback is in a similar situation as Carson Wentz. Even if the Rams do want to move on, it is just not financially possible until at least 2023. A trade is always an option, but no team is going to take on that money if the Rams think he is declining. The Rams would also take a major dead cap hit.

Goff can redeem himself with a win in Week 17 and another in January. for now, he needs to make sure he isn’t dealing with any damage in his thumb so he can actually grip the ball.
