College football media reacts to Ohio State blowing out Clemson in Sugar Bowl

Ohio State has shown up ready to play against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.
The Ohio State Buckeyes are making Dabo Swinney eat his words in the first half of the Sugar Bowl. The Buckeyes took a 35-14 lead over Swinney’s Clemson Tigers into halftime and their offense just can’t be stopped.
Justin Fields threw four touchdowns in the half and did so after taking a brutal shot to his ribs that resulted in a targeting call. Trey Sermon also continues to run wild to the tune of 121 yards and a touchdown. Clemson is now faced with pulling off the miraculous comeback.
A friendly reminder that Justin Fields in 2019 would have won the Heisman in almost any other year with what he produced. When he's on, he's incredible. And he's absolutely on fire tonight.

Twitter reaction to the dominant first half for Ohio State
It was hard not to be impressed with how the Buckeyes looked against a Clemson team that has been a title favorite since the season began.
Dart by Fields to Ruckert and it's 35-14 Ohio State with 11 seconds left in the half.

Wow.
Ohio State is making quite the statement.

Fields is balling!

I was wrong about you @OhioStateFB

Apologies.
The night Justin Fields became a legend?

The top story of the half is Fields playing through his injury. He somehow managed not only to stay in, but to continue throwing touchdowns against a Clemson defense that looks lost.
What a throw from Fields.

Tough as woodpecker lips.
That was a great throw...tight window with velocity...Fields playing insanely good

Best I’ve seen Fields play. Reading coverage, tight window throws, check downs, progressions. Needed to see this on this stage.

OhioState has almost 400 yards of offense on Clemson's D in less than a half. Such a great blend of the run and the pass. Justin Fields putting on a spectacular show tonight. This isn't the blowout that some were expecting to happen in the Sugar Bowl.

This game features the matchups of the top two quarterbacks in the 2021 class. While Trevor Lawerence is still set to be taken No. 1 overall, he has been outplayed by Fields to this point. It will be up to the Clemson legend to turn things around and spark a second-half comeback. He will need some help from his defense too.
HALFTIME: Ohio State 35, Clemson 14

Nearly 400 yards of offense for Ohio State. Clemson is in trouble.
HALF: Ohio State 35, Clemson 14. Brent Venables is as good as they come, but his unit looks lost tonight and can't wrap up. Offensively, Clemson is 1-of-5 on third down. The punt on 4th-and-3 will come up postgame.

Fields, hurt and all, out there throwing darts.
— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) January 2, 2021
Buckeyes just shredding Clemson's defense. Almost 400 yards of offense in the first half.
I don't know how Fields is doing this - or did that - but it is truly remarkable.

The gameplan will need to totally change for Clemson to have a shot. The alternative is being the second team out of the ACC to get blown out on this New Year’s Day.
