Ohio State has shown up ready to play against Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are making Dabo Swinney eat his words in the first half of the Sugar Bowl. The Buckeyes took a 35-14 lead over Swinney’s Clemson Tigers into halftime and their offense just can’t be stopped.

Justin Fields threw four touchdowns in the half and did so after taking a brutal shot to his ribs that resulted in a targeting call. Trey Sermon also continues to run wild to the tune of 121 yards and a touchdown. Clemson is now faced with pulling off the miraculous comeback.

Twitter reaction to the dominant first half for Ohio State

It was hard not to be impressed with how the Buckeyes looked against a Clemson team that has been a title favorite since the season began.

The top story of the half is Fields playing through his injury. He somehow managed not only to stay in, but to continue throwing touchdowns against a Clemson defense that looks lost.

This game features the matchups of the top two quarterbacks in the 2021 class. While Trevor Lawerence is still set to be taken No. 1 overall, he has been outplayed by Fields to this point. It will be up to the Clemson legend to turn things around and spark a second-half comeback. He will need some help from his defense too.

The gameplan will need to totally change for Clemson to have a shot. The alternative is being the second team out of the ACC to get blown out on this New Year’s Day.
