Yes, it may have been at the Group of 5 level, but anyone who watched BYU play ball this year immediately recognized a top-10 draft talent under center for Kalani Sitake’s team. If Wilson does indeed end up being taken high in the 2021 NFL Draft, what are the five likeliest teams to select him? Try this quintet on for size.

If the Denver Broncos feel like Drew Lock is not the long-term answer at quarterback, they could look at taking Wilson in the first round. Keep in mind that Lock was a former second-round quarterback out of Missouri who will be entering year three of a four-year contract. Factor in Wilson starring in the same Mountain Time Zone and this could be an interesting landing spot.

Pairing him with Joe Brady could be fantastic
Even though the Carolina Panthers have Teddy Bridgewater under contract for two more years, we have to wonder if he is the quarterback head coach Matt Rhule and offensive coordinator Joe Brady want to attach their budding NFL careers to. Wilson may need some time to thrive in Brady’s system, but his untapped potential certainly exceeds Bridgewater at his very best now.

The Detroit Lions will be in the right range to take Wilson out of BYU. The big question surrounding the Lions is if they want to stick with former No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford for the foreseeable future or not. It all depends on what the Lions plan to do to replace former head coach Matt Patricia and general manager Bob Quinn. This could be a great pickup for Detroit.
