Adam Gase is likely coaching his final game with the Jets on Sunday.

Adam Gase’s tenure with the New York Jets has been ugly from the start. The team somehow managed to go 7-9 in 2019 before getting off to an 0-13 start in 2020.

Gase clashed with his own players and has been unable to develop Sam Darnold, who is supposed to be the franchise quarterback. The Jets have won two straight, but that is even worse than losing because it knocked the team out of contention for the No. 1 overall pick.

Gase can’t even lose properly and a new report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero claims the Jets are going to move on from the head coach as soon as Sunday’s game is over.

Jets getting a fresh start in 2021

Firing Gase after two seasons was not what the team had in mind when hiring him in January 2019. However, this isn’t the biggest shocker in the world considering the Jets hired him after Gase went 23-25 in three seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

The report also explains how the Jets are going to consider a ton of options, both from the college and pro ranks. That is a great idea after settling on a coach who had just failed with another team in the same division.

The head coach was supposed to show up and make the Jets offense one of the best in the NFL. He proceeded to alienate new arrival Le’Veon Bell and the Jets are averaging just over 15 points per game in 2020. The team has now gotten worse after an already bad enough stretch with Todd Bowles as head coach.

The Jets have to take their time with this coaching search. Someone like Eric Bieniemy is going to be a top candidate once again, while Iowa State head coach Matt Campbell is a name from the college ranks to keep an eye on after what he has done in Ames.

Gase managed to go 0-13 and set up the Jets to land Trevor Lawrence. Naturally, his team picked up two meaningless wins and he will be fired here shortly. The Jets are a disaster and fans are hoping yet another change in leadership will get the team back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
