Cam Akers came up big in the first half for the Los Angeles Rams vs. the Seattle Seahawks.

It took until the NFL playoffs for Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers to become the star we all knew he was coming out of Florida State.

In a first half that was all about bad quarterback play, Akers stood out in a big way for Los Angeles. He had 18 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown on the ground, as well as two catches for 45 yards out of the backfield in the first two quarters. He was the difference in the Rams carrying a 20-10 lead into halftime on the road vs. the NFC West champion Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

Cam Akers will need to keep this up for the Rams to advance

Despite being division rivals, the Rams are at a quarterback disadvantage in this game vs. the Seahawks. While Russell Wilson continues to be one of the best passers in the NFL today, the Rams are dealing with a ton of injuries at the quarterback position. Jared Goff has a busted thumb on his throwing hand, while his backup John Wolford had to exit the game with a head injury.

Sean McVay and his Rams team can lean on Brandon Staley’s defense in this one, but odds are Los Angeles will need more than 20 points on the road to pull off the road upset. Goff might be able to make a play or two, but the Rams’ offense runs through Akers in the final two frames. If he can keep up this fantastic pace, the Rams will be playing in the NFC Divisional round next weekend.
