. Scouting Report. AL West. Los Angeles Angels. 2.. player. 102. Pick Analysis

The Angels perpetually need starting pitching, and until Southern California native Trevor Bauer signs somewhere they’ll be a possible landing spot for him. Dylan Bundy, Andrew Heaney and Griffin Canning would be their top three starters right now, with a hopefully healthy Shohei Ohtani in the mix too.

Kluber wouldn’t solve the Angels’ need for a top of the rotation ace, but it’s not as if a lot of that type are available anyway. Simply adding pieces to the rotation would be fine, and signing Kluber to a short, incentive-heavy deal would not prevent other moves–a big contract for Bauer along the lines he’s surely looking for included.

The Angels were never specifically reported as a team who would attend Kluber’s showcase, but only 14 of the apparent 25 that did were reported to be going to take a look. So let’s assume they did send someone to check him out, since only five teams didn’t and some of them can be tabbed with a little thought. The Angels have to be in the market for virtually any available starting pitcher, and they are a somewhat sneaky landing spot for Kluber.
