Los Angeles Dodgers fans must be elated after hearing the latest Cody Bellinger injury update.

With spring training right around the corner, outfielder Cody Bellinger looks to be in great shape physically for the Los Angeles Dodgers after undergoing offseason surgery to repair an injured shoulder.

“Once we get to full-squad workouts, I would expect to have him on the field, taking swings,” said Dodgers manager David Roberts to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. “I think right now we’re right where we need to be, from what the trainers are saying. When you look out at spring training as far as the position-player side, taking at-bats, there’s plenty of time.”

“So however it looks for Cody’s schedule as far as building it out, I’m not concerned at all for him to be ready offensively for the start of the season.”

A health Cody Bellinger gives the Dodgers a great shot at repeating

Bellinger injured his right shoulder in Game 7 of the 2020 NLCS vs. the Atlanta Braves. While he does have a history of popping his shoulder out of place, this is when the injury was exposed on such a national stage. Though the Dodgers were able to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays to win their first World Series since 1988, Bellinger was nowhere close to 100 percent physically in that series.

Because Bellinger had his shoulder surgery in early November, the 10-week recovery period lines up perfectly with the start of spring training. While there is no need to rush him back the very instant the Dodgers get back in action, Bellinger not missing any time at the start of the 2021 MLB season is a fantastic thing. Maybe he will be the piece to help them win it all next October?

As long as there are no setbacks, look for Bellinger to start in the outfield on MLB Opening Day.
