A pair of Chicago Cubs fan favorites could be well on their way to receiving new contracts from the front office.

The 2016 World Series-winning team is one that Chicago Cubs fans will never, ever forget. Fortunately for them, there’s still plenty of star players on the current roster from that sensational team. And if the front office has their way, two in particular won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon.

Per a report, the Cubs are hoping to get long-term contracts done in the near future with both Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez. At the same time, you never know if Kris Bryant will get himself a new deal as well.

Anthony Rizzo and Javy Baez might be getting new contracts from the Chicago Cubs

If you ask any Cubs fan, they’ll be quick to mention how much love they have for both Rizzo and Baez. Rizzo, the stud first baseman, is one of the nicest guys in baseball both on and off the field. He just handles himself the right way and management has been quick to notice that. Keeping him in town for a while will make everyone happy.

As for Baez, goodness me, the infielder just plays with swag that’s tough to match. Whether he’s belting dingers out of parks or making amazing plays on the field, he’s just a joy to watch and Cubs supporters are always left in awe with what he’s able to get done offensively and defensively.

While the team is focused on Spring Training and getting ready for the 2021 campaign, it would be smart to finalize things with Rizzo and Baez before the season gets underway. All eyes will be on Jed Hoyer to see if he’ll be able to get things done with the two players.
