Cowboys: Dak Prescott hints at Dallas return on Instagram
By John Buhler
Dak Prescott let it be known that he is interested in running it back with the Dallas Cowboys.
Prescott may be hitting free agency again, but he would like to return to the Dallas Cowboys.
Over the weekend, Cowboys tight end Blake Jarwin shared a picture on Instagram of him being hugged by Prescott. He posed the question, “Wanna run it back in a few months?” Prescott went on to share it on his Instagram Story with the response of, “That’s the only way I see it.”
Prescott is coming off a season-ending ankle injury. This would be year six for him out of Mississippi State.
Will Dak Prescott get a long-term deal with the Dallas Cowboys this offseason?
While Prescott may want to run it back with the Cowboys, he would be more inclined to do so if he is given a fair market value on a long-term deal. Prescott outplayed his rookie contract out of Mississippi State. He was a two-time Pro Bowler and quarterbacked the Cowboys to a pair of NFC East crowns. However, he was slapped with the franchise tag ahead of his fifth year in the league.
On the open market, Prescott would command top-10 money for a starting quarterback. While his injury and other signal-callers’ success would prevent him from being the highest-paid quarterback in the league, he has earned a multi-year deal with an NFL franchise. It remains to be seen if it will be with the Cowboys. If they tag him again in 2021, he may not want to stay in 2022.
Prescott may want to run it back, but the NFL at its very core is a business and money does talk.
