Some fake news made its way to Twitter on Tuesday saying that the Panthers were considering trading Christian McCaffrey for Deshaun Watson.

Hearts all over Charlotte dropped earlier on Tuesday when a report leaked stating that the Carolina Panthers were considering trading Christian McCaffrey to the Houston Texans in exchange for Deshaun Watson. What in the world? This would have been the kind of blockbuster that would flip the NFL upside down.

However, that’s simply not going to happen. As it turns out, the report came from an article where an NFL insider was making a bold prediction, not actually citing sources. So, rest easy, Panthers fans. McCaffrey isn’t going anywhere.

The Carolina Panthers will not be trading Christian McCaffrey to the Houston Texans

Blood pressures were surely raised all over North Carolina, but alas, there’s nothing to see here folks. While Watson would be an incredible addition for the Carolina Panthers, they’re not going to be sending McCaffrey to Houston or to any other team.

The 24-year-old running back is no doubt one of the best offensive players in the game when he’s healthy. Last season, he unfortunately dealt with injuries and missed most of the season.

He was able to suit up for three games, though, and rushed for 225 yards and five touchdowns. McCaffrey is a huge threat in the aerial attack too, as he caught 17 balls for 149 yards and another score.

Looking ahead to 2021, McCaffrey will hope to stay healthy and do everything he can to help the Panthers get back to the postseason. As for Watson, he’s made it more than clear he wants out of Houston and wants a fresh start in a new city. We’ll all be waiting to see where he lands next, but Carolina isn’t looking like his next destination.
