Mac Jones 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 4: Pittsburgh Steelers

If one thing was clear for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense throughout this past season, it’s that Ben Roethlisberger is nearing the end of the line. All signs seemingly indicate him returning — albeit on a reduced salary — for 2021 but there needs to be a contingency plan in place beyond that.

The big issue is that clearly isn’t where Pittsburgh is at quarterback right now. Mason Rudolph looked ill-equipped to take up the mantle when he was forced to start in 2019 and the options all but stop there unless they draft someone like Jones.

Jones could undoubtedly benefit from a year learning behind Big Ben as he does have just one college season as the starter under his belt. Moreover, Roethlisberger’s ability to thrive with an overall lack of mobility could help Jones overcome one of his biggest weaknesses.

Mac Jones 2021 NFL Draft landing spot No. 3: Chicago Bears

For right now, it does appear that the Chicago Bears are in the trade market for a quarterback. They’d love Deshaun Watson but that’s not going to happen. However, they could end up landing someone like Carson Wentz, Sam Darnold or otherwise.

If all of those options fall through, though, the Bears aren’t in an ideal position in the 2021 NFL Draft to get a quarterback unless Jones falls to them or to a range where they aren’t forced to mortgage their draft future to trade up.

With that being the case, Jones appears to be a natural fit in Chicago. Moreover, his stability at the position and cool demeanor would be welcomed after years with Mitchell Trubisky at the helm. The Bears are in need of a hard reset at the position and bringing in the Alabama football star could offer them exactly that.
