Eagles expected to bring in competition for Jalen Hurts after Carson Wentz trade

Just because the Eagles have traded away Carson Wentz, it doesn’t mean that Jalen Hurts is guaranteed to be the starter in Philadelphia. 

With the news dropping on Thursday morning that the Philadelphia Eagles had traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Colts, many fans out there might be expecting Jalen Hurts to be the clear starter moving forward for the NFC East team. However, let’s hold the phone on those discussions.

Per a report, the Eagles are not done with quarterback moves, as the expectation is they’ll go out and try to bring in another signal-caller to compete with Hurts for the No. 1 job.

How do Eagles supporters feel about this? Hurts took over the Philadelphia’s starting quarterback late last season after former head coach Doug Pederson decided he had seen enough of Wentz and his struggles.

Hurts, who appeared in 15 games, started four contests for the organization during his rookie campaign. The former Alabama/Oklahoma standout went on to throw for 1,061 yards and six touchdowns, while adding 353 rushing yards and three more scores. Hurt’s dual-threat abilities really sparked the team’s offense and gave fans plenty of reasons to be excited for the future.

At the same time, Howie Roseman knows there’s nothing better than some tough competition at every position, particularly quarterback. That’s why he’ll do everything he can to make sure Hurts is pushed to win the starting job. With that being said, should the Eagles land a veteran signal-caller, they could go on to take the position over Hurts.

Philly made quite the splash in trading Wentz on Thursday. Now, it looks like the team isn’t done making moves this offseason.
