4. Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons are in a place no team wants to be–bad, coming off a 4-12 season, and in salary cap purgatory. So that’s the challenge for new GM Terry Fontenot, while attempting to fill needs too.

Todd Gurley had a disappointing season for Atlanta this year (3.5 yards per carry), and he surely won’t be back for a second season. The options behind him (Ito Smith, Brian Hill, Qadree Ollison) weren’t much better, and Hill is going to be a free agent himself. So the Falcons will be looking at running backs this offseason, somewhere, ideally on the cheap side.

New head coach Arthur Smith will be trying to bring the Falcons’ offense back up to its previous level, with plenty of talent still in place (assuming Matt Ryan and Julio Jones indeed aren’t traded). They can give Lindsay the opportunity to at least be on the majority side of a backfield committee, which would be a chance he’d presumably jump at to re-establish his value. A cheap one-year deal would work nicely for both sides
