3 free agents the Cardinals should avoid in the 2021 offseason
Arizona will need to improve its overall running game. Kenyan Drake finished a contract year with a career-high 955 rushing yards to close out the campaign. Could he want more from a different team?
Drake’s overall skills have limited him in being effective as a pass-catcher. Since he arrived in the desert, the former third-round pick has tallied only 53 catches and has yet to find the end zone. With Kingsbury’s offense being a high-functioning aerial attack, would Arizona want to add a name like Jones?
They shouldn’t at what he’ll cost.
Jones is coming off a career-high 1,104 rushing yards and his first Pro Bowl season with the Packers. He also averaged 7.6 yards per reception and tallied over 1400 yards of total offense. However, Jones was playing behind one of the league’s best lines. Could the same be said for Arizona?
If the Cardinals are looking to upgrade in the ground game, a name like Carlos Hyde might be a better fit. If not, resigning Drake feels like the smarter ploy than overpaying for Jones.
