The official Twitter account for Duke’s men’s basketball team trolled UNC after their loss to Marquette.

Admit it, you have all hate-watched your rival team in hopes of them losing to bring a smile to your face. Well, let’s just say the Duke Blue Devils were having themselves a great Wednesday evening.

The UNC Tar Heels, looking to extend their winning streak to three games, ended up losing to the Marquette Golden Eagles by the score of 83-70. After watching this, Duke’s men’s basketball team’s official Twitter account decided to troll UNC by tweeting out a GIF of head coach Mike Krzyzewski hugging former player and current Marquette coach Steve Wojciehchowski.

Wojo defeating the Tar Heels for the Blue Devils

That GIF is a historic image for Duke fans. This dates back to 1998 Senior Day, as Wojciehchowski’s 11 assists helped the Blue Devils defeat the Tar Heels 77-75. In his very last game at Cameron Indoor Stadium, the man nicknamed “Wojo” ran towards Coach K for a hug.

Wojciechowski returned to Duke as an assistant coach under Krzyzewski from 1999 until he was hired by Marquette in 2014. Wednesday night was the first time that Wojciechowski faced the Tar Heels as a head coach, and he got the best of them.

Forward Dawson Garcia would lead the way for the Golden Eagles, scoring 24 points (9-for-13 from field) and hauling in 11 rebounds to secure a double-double. For the Tar Heels, forward Garrison Brooks tallied 18 points (8-for-10 from field), five rebounds and two steals.

There were no greater Marquette fans than Duke. What made it sweeter is seeing “Wojo” out-coach Roy Williams for one night. For those UNC fans who saw this tweet from Duke, they can get a chance at revenge when the Tar Heels and Blue Devils meet at Chapel Hill on March 6.
